2026 Midterm Elections Resource Hub
States United’s resources on the threats to the 2026 midterm elections and how election officials are preparing.
Across every state, with tens of thousands of jurisdictions, and serving hundreds of millions of voters, America’s elections are run by trusted, nonpartisan state and local officials who ensure the voting process is free, fair, and secure. With state and federal law as their guiding beacon and months of preparation, those election officials see that Americans’ voices are heard in each election and the results are respected.
Our election process faces unique challenges this midterm cycle, as the Trump administration puts the full force of the federal government behind an effort to control the way elections are run in this country. Though the U.S. Constitution gives states the power to run elections, President Trump has sought to seize that power for himself.
The president’s strategy is widespread and unrelenting: He wants to control the plot (Americans’ perceptions of the trustworthiness of elections), the process (state authority over election administration), and the players (the officials empowered to check executive overreach) of this country’s election system, all to stay in power.
To stand up to this overreach, state leaders are on the frontlines, defending our elections, speaking out for proven processes that deliver accurate results, and taking the administration to court when it oversteps constitutional limits.
Here are resources that States United has created ahead of November’s midterm elections, providing state and local election officials, the press, and the public with the tools they need to understand America’s voting process and the threats it faces.
