- Director of Finance
Location: Washington, D.C. (Remote)
The Director of Finance is responsible for the financial health and integrity of the organization and its affiliated 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) entities. This role provides strategic financial guidance, manages all day-to-day financial operations, and ensures compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Legal Internship (Summer 2026)
Location: Washington, D.C. (Remote)
States United Democracy Center, a nonpartisan organization focused on the critical role states play in democracy protection, is hiring two (2) Legal Interns to support the work of the Legal Department for Summer 2026. The legal intern works with internal and external attorneys, policy experts, and researchers to help analyze election and voting laws as well as the interaction between federal and state laws, provide legal guidance to the organization and clients, and support litigation to protect elections, voting, and democracy.
- Program Director (Rule of Law)
Location: Washington, D.C. (Remote)
States United is hiring for a Program Director to help lead our work supporting state officials and the rule of law. This is a senior attorney position that requires at least 12 years of legal experience, including significant litigation/legal counseling, management, and strategic planning experience. The successful candidate will also have significant experience working in or with an office of a state official, including governors or attorneys general.
- Project Associate (Legal)
Location: Washington, D.C. (Remote)
The Project Associate provides high-level administrative and research support to the Legal team. The Project Associate is responsible for reviewing legal citations, scheduling, preparing daily meetings and events, creating briefing materials, taking notes, drafting agendas, and making travel arrangements, among other administrative tasks.
- Senior Counsel (Election Protection)
Location: Washington, D.C. (Remote)
States United is seeking a Senior Counsel (Election Protection) to serve as a core member of the organization’s legal program reporting to a Program Director (Election Protection). The Senior Counsel partners with a team of internal and external lawyers and policy experts to analyze election and voting laws and provide legal guidance to the organization and state officials to effectively meet clients’ needs for their lane of work (election protection).
- Senior Manager of Information Technology (IT)
Location: Washington, D.C. (Hybrid)
The Senior Manager of Information Technology (IT) will provide hands-on technical support to the organization ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our IT infrastructure, as well as provide strategic direction on IT policy and operations.
