State Voter File Analyses: Comparisons of Turnout in 2020 and 2024
States United Democracy Center analyzed verified voting records from state voter files to understand voter turnout patterns between the 2020 and 2024 elections, focused on three questions: Who turned out and who stayed home, who voted for the first time ever, and where each party gained or lost voters.
These analyses drew from the TargetSmart voter file accessed through Civis as well as 2020 and 2024 returns data from The New York Times.
