Before joining States United, Caroline managed domestic policy advocacy and grant making for a large foundation. She served in the White House as the first director of confirmations for President Barack Obama, overseeing Senate approval of more than 600 nominees, and as deputy director of the White House Council on Youth Violence under President Bill Clinton. She also held staff positions in the U.S. House and Senate, including staff director of the Senate Democratic Policy Committee.
